Bolton

Feature Title

Initial Target audience is likely to be patients in the Bolton area. We see around 4000 patients a month and field phone calls for around 3 - 5 times as many. There is an ambition to drive the thing national and have a cmeds in multiple sites (CMEDS bolton ltd being the first) - not sure this will actually happen though.
Thoughts we have had is that we can adverstise the site to all patients who we see, and all surgeries who use our services - the whole of North west Manchester are effectively our customers, around half a million peoiple.

Story Title

Accessing the site might give them an insight into self help or direct them elsewhere for advice, links to chemists who are open, NHSDirect link or whatever.

A seperate bit would give the actual information about us, possibly a downloadable idiots guide to out of hours services and where to get help (t o print out for granny perhaps) perhaps advice on how to complain.

sepaerate sections would possibly be useful for doctors/surgeries, and current shareholders (of whom there are about 60)
Surgeries and individual doctors are constantly having to communicate with us, surgeries tell us of times, rotas, holidays etc and details of patients who have special requirements (eg terminally ill notifications, patients with special needs) there are a series of forms which are currently faxed, and of relatively poor quality.
Doctors who work for us submit paper availability rotas which never seems terribly efficient and could possibly be web based.

Capsule Story Feedback for shareholders would probably be relatively brief, we are in our first year as the new company and would probably be a summary of our aims, possibly latest accounts when available, but these would be rather hot/confidential material given the significan t profit we have generated

Capsule Story Drug company stuff would have to be seperate and available to doctors only, but could be a good money spinner. they are desperate to promote to GPs and could potentially use it to promote local meeetings, ordering surgery freebies etc. Nationally there have been a couple of lame but expensive attempts to setup a rep appointment system for gp surgeries. The idea was that you have an online diary, the rep books a visit and subsequently the gp feeds back through the site on the rep performance/drug message and gets an incentiv/reward. The idea was shot down because it was thought to be paying the gp to see the rep. Would have to put careful thought into how drug companies actually pay money but it could be possible. I guess that all this section would be more tricky and involve a database.

Capsule Story If we could have a hit counter and be able to demonstrate traffic through to other sites then presumably advertising would flow. There are a few chemists in the townwhich are open late night but don't seem to have a web presence, there ought to be scope for you doing a job for them on the back of it. The governments intention is to ultimately have the chemists doing more and there is a new pharmacy contract which means there is money in it for them. They do have to suck the punters in though, if we can get up and running, offer them a free link/advert/basic web page for a while then later there may be scope for you to do something a bit fancier as a seperate issue for them.

Capsule Story These are all just my initial thoughts, I will attach a presentation I gave to health authority a couple of years ago which gives a flavour of what we are about - some of it is out of date but  it may help. I did a staff newsletter for the organisation recently, some of which might usefully go on a site, also just for starters a (very) few relevent links.

Capsule Story cmeds.com has gone, I have  cmeds.co.uk, cmeds.org.uk, c-meds.org, c-meds.net, c-meds.info, cmeds.org.uk, was thinking about preregistering cmeds.eu  but the site I used for the above (which all told cost less than 40 quid) wanted 99 non refundable to prereg it - what do you think?

Capsule Story Your money sounds reasonable to me, particularly if that includes hosting. The next board meeting is second week in Jan, dont know if we can start to get something to illustrate what can be done going by then?
